Hence my confusion.Īccording to me, it would be as easy as installing it in the vehicle, reading the data with the scanner, forcing the decryption of the code (since the scanner auto-configures itself for the read ecu/vin) and neutralizing it, then it would be learning the usual keys, but using the other code (from the damaged ecu) and to configure other keys in X time later, you should reuse the code from the old ecu (or so i understand/think) I forgot to mention that the scanner is capable of reading the vin, year and type of vehicle, as well as discovering the code (or at least it tries to). So, when reading the donor ecu, it would show me the original info (vehicle type, vin, year, etc) therefore I would not need to know the vehicle's vin when buying the ecu (which usually have them all stacked, after disarming the cars). So when using a scanner it would deliver the information that comes from the factory, so if I install it in another vehicle, should it show me the original info on the scanner as well (from the donor vehicle) or am I getting confused? The ecu is supposed to store all the vehicle information, right? Click to expand.I'm sorry, I just can't understand something.
